Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, in collaboration with Place des Arts, continue to actively strive to be an accessible venue. Discover all the services put in place to facilitate your experience!
Accessibility
Reserved spaces and seats – wheelchair access
Several seats are set aside for each show for people who require the use of wheelchairs. To reserve wheelchair seats, contact the Place des Arts box office by phone at 705 885-1076 or by email at billetterie@maplacedesarts.ca. You must specify that the ticket is for a wheelchair user.
Companion
The TNO participates in the Access to Entertainment for 2 Program. If you have an Access 2 Card or a Companion Leisure Card (CAL), you don’t have to pay for your companion’s admission to our events. To check availability, please contact the box office at 705 885-1076 or billetterie@maplacedesarts.ca. This offer is valid on presentation of one of these two cards.
Guide Dogs
Certified guide dogs are welcome on site. When you purchase your tickets, contact the Place des Arts box office to make sure you are given appropriate seating in the venue.
People Who Are Hearing Impaired
The Grande Salle at Place des Arts is equipped with an audio system that enables people who are hearing impaired to tune in to the show’s signal. If you wear a hearing aid, simply activate it to T or MT position; if you don’t, ask at the box office for a pair of headphones. Borrowing this device is free of charge.
Visitors who are visually impaired
If you are visually impaired, please contact the ticket office, specifying the date of your visit, and they will reserve a seat for you in the front row if possible.
Handrails
The Grande Salle at Place des Arts has handrails and stairs for descending to the front rows. Studio Desjardins will have handrails and stairs only when the bleachers are in use.
Elevator
Those who have difficulty with the stairs and have tickets for the balcony can use the elevator to go up to the 2nd floor.
Rest Areas
A few benches are set up in the main hall. The Bistro can also accommodate up to 30 people.
Doors
The building’s main doors are equipped with buttons to facilitate the entry for wheelchair users or those with mobility challenges.
Parking
As Place des Arts does not have its own parking lot, we invite you to use downtown parking. Parking fees can be paid using your mobile device and the HotSpot Parking app. You can also pay at the pay station if you prefer. Parking is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends.
Place des Arts is located directly across from municipal parking lot number 10 on Elgin Street. The entrance to the parking lot is located at the intersection of Elgin and Larch streets. There are also several parking meters.
Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario assumes no responsibility for theft, loss or damage to the vehicle or its contents, however caused.
Carpooling
EarthCare Sudbury has organized carpooling parking lots, often referred to as park-and-ride, throughout the City of Greater Sudbury. You can drive your vehicle to the designated location, meet your carpooling partners and leave your vehicle for the day without having to pay for parking.
Inclusive Washrooms
We have gender-neutral washrooms on the first floor. On the second floor, we have individual toilets. On both floors, you’ll find toilets for people with reduced mobility.
