We do theater because we deeply believe in its ability to forge connections, move people, make them think… and do good. But for this magic to happen, everyone must have access to it.
For several years now, the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario team has been working passionately to make French-language theater truly accessible to all. Thanks to your support and the commitment of our team, several important initiatives are already in place: story time and craft time, English Surtitles, our annual community production, fair ticketing… all concrete steps that open our doors to a greater diversity of audiences.
But to continue this essential work—and to go even further—we need you.
We are therefore launching our fundraising campaign, “Theater for Everyone,” with a goal of $10,000. Your support will enable us to ensure the sustainability of existing initiatives that are already making a real difference and to develop new accessibility measures.
What is already in place:
- Fair ticketing to reduce financial barriers;
- Story time and crafts for families;
- Surtitles for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or non-French-speaking;
- Community production created with and for local audiences;
- Activities alongside shows that bring audiences closer to the arts.
What we hope to incorporate on a more regular basis:
- Relaxed performances adapted for neurodivergent individuals;
- Audio description for blind or visually impaired people;
These initiatives truly transform the theater experience. They allow children to discover the magic of the stage, people with disabilities to feel fully welcome, and low-income families to attend a show without having to make sacrifices. They forge a stronger bond between our community and creative theater.
