Description
As part of the Centre franco-ontarien de folklore’s Festival les vieux m’ont conté, the TNO welcomes Nzinga, a co-production of Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui and Montreal’s La Sentinelle. Congolese-born Tatiana Zinga Botao grew up in Brussels, then moved to Quebec to study acting. As an adult, she discovered a thread cut through her family history: the name Zinga comes from her ancestor, a queen who reigned in the 17th century over a territory much larger than present-day Angola, where she is celebrated as a national founder. This captivating historiographical tale reconstructs the ancestral thread that links Tatiana to her ancester, while following the Congo-Belgium-Canada triangle that she herself traveled.
